A choice of Content Management Systems to suit your needs
If all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail
We have experience developing in a range of Content Management Systems, and have over several years experimented with a selection of the best Content Management Systems available so that we can now offer you a solution to your needs based on what we consider to be the best in class.
Your Content Management System is the engine that drives your website
A HTML web page is made up of 2 things, the content that is made available to view and the structural code that defines how the content will be displayed. Traditionally these were stored together in a .html file which meant that to change the content required the knowledge of how to alter the HTML. A Content Management System (CMS) allows us to separate the content you want to create and display to your visitors from the templates that make up the structure of the page. This means that all you have to worry about is creating great copy in an environment similar to Microsoft Word (what is called a WYSIWYG interface).
Your choice of Content Management system
Not all CMS are the same, we know we've tried out dozens of them so you don't have to. The 2 Content Management Systems we have settled on to offer our clients are:
Wordpress
With it's unrivaled simplicity of use and flexibility, Wordpress can offer you a dynamic platform for growth. Originally a blogging platform, Wordpress is now a fully functional Content Management System with a range of features that would compete with many of the rival enterprise level CMS from only a few years ago. Wordpress is probably the most popular Content Management System on the Internet today, with millions of installs worldwide. One of the reasons many choose Wordpress is it's ability to interact with your visitors through comments, Social Media, RSS or Newsletters, Wordpress provides some great ways to keep your visitors coming back.
For ease of use, rapid deployment and outstanding visitor interaction, combined with incredible flexibility Wordpress is hard to beat.
Joomla!
Joomla! is a long standing Content Management System that continues to improve with every new release. Unlike Wordpress, Joomla! (yes the exclamation mark is part of the name) has always been a true Content Management System and was never really a blogging platform. This means that it has developed a very robust system of content handling, access permissions, and caching to improve page loading speed.
Joomla! is robust and flexible enough to be used by some major organisations as their content delivery tool, most notably the United Nations who liked it's ability to deliver content in a number of languages easily (they would though wouldn't they?). Joomla! also provides an extensible framework on which applications can be built, taking advantage of the built in functionality of Joomla! This allows a wide range of solutions to be provided through the Joomla! system, from e-commerce to recruitment websites to booking systems, Joomla! can accommodate a number of uses.
For robust, structured, permission driven content management, with the ability to extend this to meet your requirements, Joomla! is the leader in it's field.
What are your options to add a Video to your Website
With video content becoming so much more popular, mostly in response to video sharing websites such as YouTube, a great way to add an extra dimension to any website is to include your own videos on articles or posts in your website. This can be much less difficult than a lot of people imagine, and using Wordpress or Joomla! can be achieved in a number of ways.
